Why Positive Displacement Pipettes Are Perfect For Problematic Samples

Whilst commonly used air displacement pipettes are highly accurate for most pipetting tasks, their performance can be affected by the physical properties of the solutions handled, such as viscosity, volatility, surface tension and temperature.  However, positive displacement pipettes like the MICROMAN® E, together with Capillary Pistons (CPs) work differently,  and the performance of the pipette is not affected by the nature of the sample.

The Capillary Pistons work just like a syringe,  eliminating the air cushion between the liquid and disposable piston, making it perfect for pipetting non-aqueous samples.
